Gourmet Burger Kitchen *B*
Hunger Factor: 6
GBK, the new burger bar located in the city center of Nottingham, looked very inviting and so hence this review was born.
The restaurant itself is very petite and consists of a glass front with pictures of kiwi's embedded on. GBK help save the endangered kiwi and gives 25p to the endangered Kiwi association for every Kiwiburger sold.
I sat down and received a menu which presented me with a choice of 12 different types of burgers :- The Wellington, Pesterella, Classic, Chilli, Habanero, Mexican, Jamaican, Avocado Bacon, Cheese, BBQ, Blue Cheese and Kiwiburger. I chose the BBQ burger which came with a BBQ jalapeno sauce. The burger is made from fresh Angus cattle and consists of only the best type of beef. The burger also contained some lettuce and tomatoes which blended well with the overall consistency of the burger.
The burgers cost around £8.00 which is fairly expensive due to the fact that you don't get any side dishes included but due to the fine ingredients that are used the price seems reasonable.
I also ordered a side order of fries which cost £3.50 and were quite delightful. Overall the meal was good and the burger was delicious but I thought it was a tad overpriced for the quantity.
The meal gets a rating of 7/10 *B* because of it's taste but I didn't think that the price matched the quantity or consistency of the burger which forces me to score this a 7. If the burger came with a side order then this would rate higher.

Philos
Philos *A*
Hunger Factor: 4
Location: Philos Cafe, West Bridgford, Nottingham
Philos is a delicatessens and is quite simply delightful. It is a small and friendly shop which has a great atmosphere. The staff are delightfully friendly and serve with a smile which simply gives the shop a fantastic aura. When I visit philos I always purchase the meal deal which consists of a sandwhich, (which allows you to pick whichever ingrediants you like(and if they do not have the ingrediants they offer to go and get them for you)), a hot drink and a cake. The meal deal costs £5.95 and although a little overpriced you won't be dissapointed with the quality and the fulfillment of the meal. My usual order of chicken, bacon, cheese and mayo on freshly cut white sliced bread never fails to satisfy my tastebuds. The sandwich comes with a side salad which consists of lettuce, grapes, coleslaw, balsamic vinegar and cucumber. The salad is simply delectable and the coleslaw is one of the best ingrediants I have ever tasted. The hot chocolate melts in your mouth and also has a professional look as seen in the photo above. Finally for dessert I chose the caramel shortbread which has a great overall texture and the mix of caramel, chocolate and shortbread makes this simply one of the best cakes avaiable. Overall the meal was divine and left me feeling fresh and filled for the day ahead.
The atmosphere, food and friendlyness of the staff allow me to rate philos a 9.5/10. The only issue I can find with philos is that I would like the price dropped slightly. This is due to me being a student and I lack money.
